The Rationalist Manifesto:

A manifesto is a public declaration of a group's philosophy,  encompassing its opinions, policies and goals in this instance the group is Rational Exchange. The Rationalist Manifesto lays out the principles and practices of Rationalism as a platform for the reduction of carbon emissions.

Carbon reduction platforms increase operational efficiencies changing the power dynamics of society.

In Carbon-Empowered Communities (Exchanges)

  • Power flows up from the base.

  • Higher jurisdictional levels have only those powers provided by the express permission of lower levels.

  • The authority of all levels of government is permitted by and contained in and by a written constitution and no act or action by any level of government or body in authority or office may exceed its authority or abridge the limitations placed on the expression of its power, influence and authority as provided by the lower level constitutional document.

  • All power of right and necessity resides with carbon users; those persons who accept responsibility for a given political jurisdiction.

  • Political jurisdictions represent the area of responsibility of a local constituency.

  • Carbon users become the power centers.

The principles of Rationalism are consistent with Scripture and the principles of stewardship and the doctrine of Dominionism.

Rationalism is a belief in the existence of innate knowledge. The existence of social costs is incompatible with our role of Stewardship. The liberal state is an ethical absurdity and inconsistent with human rationality as it delegitimizes stewardship and our responsiblity for the environment.

Rationalism is an advanced form of Republicism. Rational Networks or Exchanges devolves power down to the lowest practical political constituency. Rational Exchange policy is a practical application of The Golden Rule and the teachings of Scripture.

Resonsibility ultimately creates progress. Rational Exchange devolves power down to the level at which responsibility can best be exercised, that is the local level.

Rationalists believe the world is rational and conceptual and knowable. Rationalists believe not only that humans have innate knowledge but also that all of reality is inherently coherent and knowable. Rationality and ethics are coherent and necessitate separation of Church and state. There is no biblical or secular foundation by which church and state (meaning a socialist state) can be reconciled. Rationalism provides the mechanism by which the separation of church and the socialist state can finally be accomplished.

Dominion is considered by some to mean mankind has authority over the world. This interpretation is in error. Humans are not restricted to Dominion over matter or the physical world our authority extends to reality itself. We create reality as we assign value to our experience. Reality is applied reason. Reality is conceptual and is composed of information. The world makes sense because or to the degree, our concepts make sense. The confusion that surrounds the idea of Dominion may be due to the fact we do not have dominion over others nor over reason itself. Rationality must conform to the logic of information and to the internal coherency of the information. Humans are limited by what we can do, we cannot make contradictory ideas make sense.

Contradictions cannot create or compose reality. This is where our reason becomes subject to a power greater than ourselves. Where our concepts are inconsistent, our world is incoherent and it is not possible to formulate or understand or fashion reality. Reality conforms to and is created by the laws of logic and communication. We cannot understand what we cannot communicate. What we cannot communicate cannot be comprehended. Rationality depends on a coherent world view that can be communicated.

The world is not Natural it is rational and ethical; natural law does not exist as a form of regulation governing the world. Existence is information and information that is good is rational. Commonality of understanding gives us a consistent reality.

Reason must always prevail in that reason is governed by information. We can make our own choices but we cannot make choices inconsistent with reason and logic. Invalid choices are incoherent. Incoherent ideas produce a reality that is divisive. Rationality is defined by the logical rules created by God not nature. Only a society that promotes responsible government and stewardship is logically coherent.  Markets that corrupt civil liberties by means of private ownership are as unethical as they are irrational.

Reality is conceptual but our concepts have to be rational. We cannot have concepts that contradict each other. There is only one way our values will come together without contradiction.

Rationality is expressed in economics and generates progress. Progressive Humanists work to create consistency in their conceptual imagery. This is best done in and through Christianity. The concept of God is absolutely required for a coherent world view.

It is within the context of ones nation state that coherency is generated. The freedom to chose must be confined to making the best or most rational choice within the political jurisdiction in which one is located within the structure of a nation state.

Political power resides or ought to reside in the boarders of a nation state. We believe there is a way to live and do business that is more equitable and just than what Global Free Trade Agreements offer.

Debt is not rational. Waste infringes upon our human rights.

Rationalists believe power resides and flows from the people. We are the source of reality that is our ability to communicate reality to others defines reality for us all. Rationalism cannot be based on or rely on or exist with tyranny. All power is retained by the people other than that transferred to governments by means of a constitution. All power but that of the person is assigned.

States have unilaterally and unethically not to mention irrationally usurped the final authority that has always belonged to the human person.

Regulations always exhibit favouritism. Some persons always end up paying costs created by others. Regulations always create social costs. Government ought to create consensus and function on the basis of a constitution.

Free enterprise requires regulations. Free enterprise is an incoherent ownership model that promises freedom by necessitates the state. The free enterprise system is the economic equivalent of a survival of the fittest schema. The means of survival is the acquiring of money, or profit.

The Golden Rule is a First Order Principle. To do unto others, as you would have them do unto you is inherently progressive and requires responsible government. Rationality demands we each pay our own costs. The Golden Rule rejects social costs and interventions by the state.

Right and wrong is defined by the coherence of our concepts. We cannot unilaterally impose our values on others. Rationalists believe the value of the planet provides an objective guide to progress. The value of the planet is provided by us and is a concept that can easily and clearly be communicated. Intelligence is defined by the degree at which we as a people do that which generates value and inversely reduces social costs. Intelligence refers to the degree to which we exercise responsibility not only over the planet but over our reality.

Right and wrong are defined by the impact actions have on a community and the planet in a more general sense. If our reality conflicts with the reality of others due to inconsistencies in our thought our choices are not rational. Rationality cannot be legislated. No one can define what is right for others or even what is right in every context. Our individual actions in context define right from wrong.

Regulations cannot provide mankind with a conceptually congruent society. We need a more objective foundation on which to build an ethical and prosperous society.

Right actions are aligned with the operations of a

the free market. Wrong actions lead to a decline in value and an increase in conflict. Wrong actions pit one part of the community against the other. Progressive Humanists seek coherence.

Progress requires power and resources be stripped from the public sector and transferred to the private sector. The transfer of powers from the people to the government necessitates the formal adoption of a Constitution outlining the powers transferred. Governments have only those powers specifically assigned to them by those whom they govern otherwise the authority wielded is illegitimate. A Consitution derived from and ratified by the people forms the basis of responsible government. All other government power than that provided by the lower levels within the form of a constitution ratified by the people is illegitmate.
